Community Service Activities
Community Service activities
The Club offers community service activities on a pro bono basis.
Try Bowls on Sundays
Over the past five years, the Club has invited the public to try their hand at bowling on Sunday mornings from 10:30am for a couple of hours at no charge – bowls are provided too. The visitor only needs to bring a pair of shoes without heels. Most clubs do this once a year – Ivanhoe does it every week. Find out more information for new bowlers.
Motor Neurone Disease
John Higgins organises an annual event for people wishing to support MND research. All money raised goes to the Motor Neurone Disease Association. It is an event for ‘non bowlers’ who want to try out bowls. It is aimed at people who do not play pennant.
Primary Schools
Our club provides voluntary sessions for local primary schools. This has been made possible by Henselite Australia who has loaned the club six sets of small sized bowls each year for their young hands.
The club continues to offer a 6 week program over October-December to local primary schools for Year 6 classes – sometimes Year 5 students attend too if they are in composite classes. Mother of God Primary has attended each year. Mary Immaculate Primary has attended a couple of years.
